Inside the work

Two days after releasing ‘No Hesi’, Justin Magnaye brought the single to New Jersey’s Filipino American Festival with a four-piece band and an audience of around 1,000.

The Filipino-American singer, songwriter and producer took the stage at Overpeck County Park on Sunday 6 September 2026, following the single’s 4 September release through Origins Inconclusive.

His 30-minute set featured ‘No Hesi’, ‘R2M’ and ‘Lineup’. Appearing third-to-last on the programme, Magnaye sang with his band behind him and a Philippine flag at the front of the stage.

The atmosphere was electric, with Filipino festivalgoers joined by people who had come to celebrate the culture. The performance gave Magnaye the chance to share his songs in a setting rooted in his own heritage.

Hosted by Filipino American Festival Inc. (FAFI), the 14th Annual Filipino American Festival brought music, food and cultural performances to the park’s Ridgefield Park and Leonia sections. Alongside the live programme, the event celebrates Filipino heritage and community in New Jersey.

‘No Hesi’ is out now through Origins Inconclusive. Explore the single and more of Justin Magnaye’s work below.
