Inside the work

The second chapter of the love songs EP campaign turns a letter to Clarissa's younger self into intimate, emotionally direct alt-pop.

shy is the second release in Clarissa Mae's the love songs EP campaign, following love songs and opening the collection further into memory, fear and self-recognition.

Written as a letter to her younger self, the song reflects on insecurity and the instinct to make yourself smaller in order to be accepted. Clarissa wrote and recorded it in her bedroom after rearranging childhood photographs, letting those personal archives shape both the song and its visual world.

The result is vulnerable without becoming fragile: intimate alt-pop led by a close vocal, clear writing and the feeling of a private thought being understood in real time.

Its official video continues the campaign's diary-like language, using memory as lived material rather than decoration. It leads directly into anyway, the third chapter of the same EP story.
