Inside the work
A warm, bossa nova-influenced pop record about the quiet moment a relationship reveals its imbalance - and the third release from her forthcoming the love songs EP campaign.
Some songs arrive at the point of impact. anyway arrives after it: in the quieter moment when the truth has settled and there is nothing left to negotiate.
Clarissa Mae's new single is warm, melodic and lightly guitar-led, with a bossa nova-influenced pulse beneath an intimate vocal. It gives shape to the ache of being second best without turning it into spectacle - a song that lets acceptance arrive before closure.
The accompanying official video was filmed using Clarissa's mum's 1990s camcorder. What began as a resourceful production decision became the campaign's visual signature: soft focus, accidental texture and the feeling of looking back through a family archive. It gives the record warmth and distance at once.
anyway is the third release in Clarissa's forthcoming the love songs EP campaign, following love songs and shy. The wider collection is shaped by memory, romantic misalignment and the different ways people choose to remain close. It is a more intimate visual and songwriting chapter from an artist whose live momentum has already taken her to a sold-out Wembley Arena show with BINI and Gibson Garage London.
The point of entry is still the song: precise, handmade and difficult to shake.
